South Pacific at the Victoria Palace Theatre in London

This was back in the mid-90's, and was a good production; but of ,course, the orchestra was great. At the end of the musical, the Orchestra replayed the Overture. I saw a few people gathered around the pit, and I joined them. Soon, there was a crowd around the pit, listening intently, enjoying the arrangement, the music, and the musicians. When the overture ended, we all applauded enthusiastically, and to our surprise, they replayed it! Even pit musicians who read their paperback novels between music cues enjoy an audience that they can see and really feel. It was great!
